Cloud Services or Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product. Rather than purchasing, installing, configuring, and running the system on your local machines. The program(s) run in a DataCentre which can be accesses securely from pretty much anywhere. But which type of Cloud Service is right for you? Let's take a look at the different types that are availabe.
Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) are services designed for end user(s). Microsoft Office 365, SalesForce, and Google Docs represent SaaS Cloud Computing.
Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS) is more used in Application Development and for providing SaaS. Windows Azure, Amazon Web Service, and Cloud Google provide these type of services. PaaS typically offers managed Windows or Linux Systems and can be up and running within minutes. This would mean less time managing and configuring different Operating Systems, and more time in development. One of the trade-off's are that you would not have as much control over the underlying OS.
Infrastructure-As-A-Service (IaaS) are similar to PaaS, but they offer more control over the operating system. Businesses can use the raw infrastructure to develop, deploy, manage applications on any platform or operating system.
